Fujimi #12196

Initial body work

I wanted to paint with the body assembled so I could make certain of good panel fits. I was worried about bending or breaking pieces so I use 3/4 ounce fiberglass to reinforce critical joints. The glass fiber is laminated with CA.

Basecoat Paint

Here is the car partially assembled with the color base coat appplied. The color is Lamborghini Verde Ithaca Pearl supplied by Cobra Colors. The first picture shows the four different layers applied: VX Primer, Base Coat, Mid Coat, and Clear Coat. The VX Primer is a necessary step when spraying automotive lacquers, otherwise the hot solvents will craze the plastic. The two color samples are actually the same sample photographed from two different angles (and pasted into the photo) to demostrate how the color subtly shifts under different light.

Midcoat Paint

Here is the body with the color mid coat appplied. The color-shifting nature of this tri-lay paint is starting to show up! The color is Lamborghini Verde Ithaca Pearl supplied by Cobra Colors. The first picture shows the four different layers applied: VX Primer, Base Coat, Mid Coat, and Clear Coat.

Interior shots too!

Clearcoat Paint

Here is the body with the first two clearcoats appplied.

Next up: carbon fiber in the engine compartment and more clear.

The right rear scoop was set in place for these photos, then slipped out of position during the shoot.
