Here is an inexpensive way to make the license plate on your car harder to steal.

• Will it make them theft-proof? Of course not.
• Will it deter the majority of casual thiefs? You bet!

What follows is:

• a parts list.
• photos of the parts.
• for those of you who don't want to chase all over town tracking down these relatively obscure parts, a way to have me mail them to you.

These screws are direct replacements for the #12 sheet metal screws my dealer installed.

Future plans:

• Quick on / quick off front license mount utilizing the cast-in 10mm holes on the front bumper.
• Machine screw alternative for the sheet metal screws — more secure.

You can probably find all these items cheaper. The screws and bits are a little tough to track down, but industrial hardware stores are a good starting point. My local Home Depot and local hardware stores did not have anything useful for this project.
